Support Us

The Port Credit Salmon and Trout Association has been doing this work since 2010, entirely through the efforts of volunteers and the generosity of supporters like you. We don’t have paid staff. We have passionate people who show up year after year because they believe Port Credit’s waters are worth protecting.

Every dollar donated, every hour volunteered, and every sponsor who puts their name behind our mission directly funds the work that keeps Lake Ontario’s salmon and trout fishery alive for the next generation.

What your support makes possible

Since our founding, PCSTA has grown from a small group of local anglers into one of Port Credit’s most active conservation organizations. Your support helps us sustain and grow programs that make a measurable difference:

The PEN Project is the heart of what we do. Each spring, we raise thousands of juvenile Chinook salmon in floating net pens in the harbour, giving them time to imprint on local waters before release. This dramatically improves their chances of returning to the Credit River to spawn which in turn helps rebuild a wild population that was once in serious decline. The program has been running successfully since 2010 and has consistently produced healthy fish with minimal loss.

Our Annual PEN Derbies are more than tournaments, they’re community celebrations of Port Credit’s fishing heritage. Held each June and August, these events welcome anglers of all ages and experience levels, raise conservation awareness, and generate vital funds that go right back into our programs.

Our Annual Tree Planting events restore native vegetation along the Credit River shoreline, improving water quality and rebuilding natural habitat that fish and wildlife depend on. These are hands-on, family-friendly days that connect our community to the ecosystems we’re working to protect.

Our Tackle Swap events each spring make fishing more accessible and sustainable, giving gear a second life while raising a little money and a lot of community spirit.
